Privacy Policy

Effective August 28, 2026

The short version
  • We collect what we need to take your reservation and host your stay, plus basic analytics when you use this website.
  • We use Google and Meta advertising tools. That includes sharing email addresses in scrambled, irreversible form so we can show offers to past guests. Your actual email address is never handed over for advertising.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can email us any time to be removed or to ask what we hold.

This policy explains what Lake Darling Resort collects, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. It covers this website and any reservation you make with us, whether you book online, over the phone, or in person.

Lake Darling Resort is responsible for the information described in this policy.

What we collect

Information you give us when you book or get in touch. Your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, dates of stay, the number and ages of people in your party, payment details, and anything else you tell us such as accessibility needs, pet details or special requests. We collect this whether you book through this website, by phone, or in person.

Information that reaches us from booking sites. If you book through a travel site such as Expedia, Airbnb or VRBO, that site passes us the details needed to hold your reservation. Some of them supply a forwarding email address rather than your own.

Information collected automatically when you use this website. Pages you view and how long you stay, the site or advertisement that referred you, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device, browser and screen size.

Payment information. Card details are handled by our booking and payment providers under their own security standards. We do not store full card numbers on our own systems.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses cookies and similar identifiers. Some are necessary for the site and the booking system to work. Others help us understand how the site is used and measure our advertising. The main ones are:

  • Google Analytics, to see how people find and use the site.
  • Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing tags, to measure whether our advertising leads to bookings and to show ads to people who have visited.
  • Meta pixel, doing the same on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Squarespace, which hosts this site and sets cookies required for it to function.
  • Cloudbeds, which runs our online booking system.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, parts of the site and the booking process may not work properly. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals where your browser sends one.

How we use your information

  • To take, confirm and manage your reservation, and to host your stay.
  • To contact you about a booking, before arrival and after you leave.
  • To send news, seasonal offers and availability, unless you have unsubscribed.
  • To measure how our advertising performs, so we spend less reaching people who are not interested.
  • To keep the property and our guests safe, and to resolve billing or damage questions.
  • To meet our accounting, tax and legal obligations.

Sharing with advertising partners

We share limited customer information with advertising partners, currently Google and Meta, so we can show relevant offers to people who have stayed with us and reach new people with similar interests.

Where we share contact information such as an email address for this purpose, it is hashed before it leaves us. Hashing turns the value into an irreversible string of characters. The advertising partner receives a scrambled identifier that can only be used to check whether it matches one of their own users. They do not receive your actual email address, and they are not permitted to use the information for any other purpose or to share it onward.

We do not sell your personal information.

Their own policies: Google Privacy Policy and Meta Privacy Policy.

Who else we share with

We share information with companies that provide services to us, and only so they can perform those services. That includes our booking system provider (Cloudbeds), our website host (Squarespace), payment processors, and our email provider. We may also share information where the law requires it, in connection with a sale or transfer of the business, or where we need to protect the safety of our guests, our staff or the property.

Your choices

  • Marketing email. Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email, or email information@lakedarlingresort.com and we will take you off the list. We will still send messages about a booking you have made.
  • Advertising. Adjust what Google shows you at myadcenter.google.com, and Meta in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
  • Analytics. Opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Your records. Email us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. We will keep what we need for accounting and legal reasons, such as records of a completed stay.

State privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising. We honour these requests from any guest, wherever you live, rather than checking your state first. Email information@lakedarlingresort.com and we will respond within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

How long we keep information

We keep guest and reservation records for as long as we need them to serve you and to meet our accounting and legal obligations. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed. Website analytics data is retained on the schedule set in our analytics account.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information online. Children are very welcome at the resort, and any information about children in your party comes from the adult making the booking.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold, and we rely on established providers for booking and payment. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted here.
